We consider wholesale or bulk orders as anything that comes in the 25kg cartons in Madagascar by air or ship (rarely,) of 2 boxes or more. We can do up to about 4-6 tons a month depending on the timing. We can and do handle all export paperwork, and we don’t run into any problems with that, but if you are handling the shipping and not us, you will have to monitor and supervise the shipping company as they often don’t call or try to pickup until there is a plane out of Sambava or ship out of Antalaha to Tamatave, and cause you headaches. You can also come get it yourself and take possession from our office in SAVA. Private aircraft for charter are available but make little sense unless you are purchasing tonnage as well. We have to charge you if we move it to Antananarivo and assess insurance fees in those cases. We give the local market prices or a little below for vanilla you buy from us in large amounts. If you buy from us including shipping CIF you often get excellent rates and save a lot of hassle, but you should do some research and find out first if you feel confident to handle logistics yourself or not. Madagascar will not be like Europe in terms of logistics and speed.
Typically for all first-time customers we charge prepayment by bank transfer. We rarely if ever mess with letters of credit or else charge 15% for the service of putting up with that, in addition to all fees for such configurations being offset by the customer. Vanilla is a cash business in Madagascar, and so you have the options only to pay by bank transfer. Buying on credit can be done on a case by case basis according to submission of credible references, background checks, and co-signing with our attorney and your personal guarantee on the funds, in your country of residence (not all qualify.) Large corporations of good standing can enjoy our generous and excellent payment terms, but for most smaller buyers, we minimize or disallow this risk and require prepayment. When it comes to traders, we work with them if they’d like to purchase outright and in advance, but minimize chatter and do not give leverage. We do not sell vanilla based on promises of future possible orders and business, but on the here and now financially for these traders.
